:: Day trip to Assisi ::

This Saturday we loaded onto our charter bus with our professors and took a day trip to Assisi, home of the Basilica di San Francesco. It was about a 2 1/2 hour bus ride from Rome and was out in the beautiful Italian country side. It was up on top a hill with beautiful views of the hills and valleys below. It was such a peaceful and calm village, and was a great break from crowded Rome. The church was beautiful with vibrant, bright colors decorating most of it. San Francesco's tomb was two layers underneath the church. It had its own small chapel and a hollowed out column so that you could actually view part of his tomb. Unfortunately you couldn't take any photos inside, but it was a great experience.

sooo peaceful... :)
